thetrainline.com is the leading UK rail ticket retailer and information provider, offering fast and easy access to timetables, fares, reservations and tickets through our internet site and contact centres. In addition to our own website we operate retail websites for a number of Train Operating Companies who sell rail tickets online, as well as providing a rail business travel service direct to corporate clients and travel agents.
The Role
A key member of the Product Development Team, part of a team of 3 Product Managers, responsible for a range of thetrainline.com product areas.
The Product Manager is responsible for the continuous improvement of existing product propositions and the generation of appropriate new propositions to grow revenue and conversion rates. Part of the team responsible for customer experience and the usability of all propositions.
The Senior Product Manager will be able to bring expertise and insight to the team, and will have held similar roles in other organisations with an online focus. Key accountabilities include:
· To maximise and deliver continuous improvements in the conversion rate of visitors to the websites by ensuring an intuitive and enjoyable customer experience with all information and services readily to hand;
· To maximise repeat visitors to the websites by delivering sticky content and features;
· Understand the company’s business model and ensure changes and enhancements strategically grow revenues and reduce costs;
· Maintain a thorough understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the company’s products;
· Maintain a thorough awareness of the products offered by competitors in our markets and peers in other industries;
· Work with b-2-b Account Directors & Business Managers to understand the requirements of b-2-b clients and ensure these are reflected in the Product Development plan;
· Assist b-2-b Account Directors / Business Managers with proposals, presentations and understanding of b-2-b client requirements;
· Maintain a thorough understanding of customer requirements, understandings and expectations and ensure that a customer centric view is applied to all developments;
· To ensure maximum saleability of the company’s propositions and deliver a world class website
· To optimise the use of finite resources and prioritise across product development opportunities
